Effect of Guest Molecules on Spin Transition Temperature in Loaded Hofmann‐Like Clathrates with Improved Porosity

The synthesis, crystal structure, magnetic and calorimetric studies of a new clathrate compound of the Hofmann-type spin crossover (SCO) metal-organic framework (MOF) {Fe(bpb)[MII(CN)4]}·xGuest (bpb = bis(4-pyridyl)butadiyne, and MII = Ni, Pt) with characteristic fsc topology is reported. The framework {Fe(bpb)[MII(CN)4]} can host up to 1.5 guest molecules of (trifluoromethyl)benzene and display complete one-step cooperative SCO behavior. Our systematic study on {Fe(bpb)[Pt(CN)4]}·xGuest shows a general reciprocal correlation between the SCO temperature with the volume of the guest molecules.

International audience; An hydrogen-bonded open framework with pores decorated by pyridyl groups has been constructed following an off-charge-stoichiometry assemblage of protonated tetrakis(4-pyridyl-oxymethyl)methane and [Al(oxalate)3]3-, respectively the H-bond donor and acceptor of the ionic H-bond interactions. This supramolecular porous architecture (SPA-2) possesses 1 nm-large pores interconnected in 3D with high solvent accessible void (53%). Induced-Fit Molecular Recognition with Water-Soluble Cavitands

Synthesis of novel water-soluble cavitands 1 and 2 and their complexes—the caviplexes—is described. The solubility in water derives from four primary ammonium groups on the lower rim and eight secondary amide groups on the upper rim. Cavitands 1 and 2 exist as D2d velcraplex dimers in aqueous solution but the addition of lipophilic guests 15–24 induces conformational changes to the vase-like structures. The internal cavity dimensions are 8×10 A, and the exchange rates of guests in the caviplexes are slow on the NMR timescale (room temperature and 600 MHz). Host-guest complexes of conformationally flexible

Host–guest complexes of C-hexyl-2-bromoresorcinarene (BrC6) with twelve potential aromatic N-oxide guests were studied using single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and 1H NMR spectroscopy. In the solid state, of the nine obtained X-ray crystal structures, eight were consistent with the formation of BrC6-N-oxide endo complexes. The lone exception was from the association between 4-phenylpyridine N-oxide and BrC6, in that case the host forms a self-inclusion complex. Large amplitude conformational change is one of the features of biomolecular recognition and is also the basis for allosteric effects and signal transduction in functional biological systems. However, synthetic receptors with controllable conformational changes are rare. In this article, we present a thorough study on the host–guest chemistry of a conformationally adaptive macrocycle, namely per-O-ethoxyzorb[4]arene (ZB4). Similar to per-O-ethoxyoxatub[4]arene, ZB4 is capable of accommodating a wide range of organic cations. Towards the fluorogenic detection of peroxide explosives through host-guest chemistry

[EN] Two dansyl-modified beta-cyclodextrin derivatives (1 and 2) have been synthesized as host-guest sensory systems for the direct fluorescent detection of the peroxide explosives diacetone diperoxide (DADP) and triacetone triperoxide (TATP) in aqueous media. The sensing is based on the displacement of the dansyl moiety from the cavity of the cyclodextrin by the peroxide guest resulting in a decrease of the intensity of the fluorescence of the dye. Both systems showed similar fluorescent responses and were more sensitive towards TATP than DADP.
